“GO FIRST”: SPEAKING AT MOPS
The week of Mother’s Day, I had the honor of giving the keynote message for a MOPS group in Corona, CA.
Since I am not a mama (yet), I had never been to a MOPS group – that is, unless you count going as a baby, because my Mom was a MOPS Mom!! I wasn’t sure the exact atmosphere that I would walk in to, or what to expect, and I prayed for the Holy Spirit to prepare me to speak to this group of Moms and to deliver the message that God wanted them to hear. To be completely honest, I felt especially inferior since I am not yet a Mom.
I struggled with the “Not Good Enough” lie from the enemy… And I had to take these thoughts captive and turn them over to my Heavenly Father, knowing that He had ordained me to be there for a special reason.
Ally Meister, my friend, sister in Christ, and MOPS coordinator, spoke so much truth in to my life and shared that she felt in her spirit that I was supposed to be there, and that I was supposed to be the last speaker of the year, their final message. I was so encouraged by Ally and her love and friendship when I struggled with insecurity. We all need sisters like this in our life!
I was also super blessed to be able to bring my Mom with me to MOPS since it was so close to her home in California. Since I was traveling from Scottsdale, Arizona to be there, I made the trip a day extra to spend time with family. Mike held down the fort at home, and I am so thankful for that! It isn’t easy to leave home, especially when you run multiple businesses together on a daily basis. But Mike is always my number one supporter, and he gladly worked double time so I could make this trip happen!
The day of MOPS was beautiful, cozy grey skies outdoors and a group full of warm, loving welcomes inside the MOPS building. I adored watching all of the Moms interact with each other. Conversation was buzzing, babies were being passed around and cuddled, and Elevation Worship was playing softly in the background.
THE MESSAGE GOD GAVE ME TO SPEAK WAS ABOUT GOING FIRST IN FAITH.
I shared stories from the Bible of the heroes of our faith and how they had to step out and go first to receive the promise from God.
Here is a little clip.
I am so thankful to have spent this time with my sisters at MOPS, and it planted a love of MOPS in my heart. I hope that one day I will be one of the faces in the room, sharing my baby and cuddling others, listening to Bible teachers and being encouraged by the women in my group. If you are a Mama, I highly recommend checking out getting involved in a group near you!
Out of curiosity, what is your favorite Bible story of someone GOING FIRST in faith?
